Art That Matters to the Planet: Beyond Beauty
August’s Love Letter by Molly Strong. Photographed August 2025.
Art That Matters to the Planet: Beyond Beauty was held at the exquisite Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, New York. This annual juried exhibition showcases artwork from artists all over the world.
Out of 500 artists who submitted artwork in all mediums for this international call for art, I am honored to be one of the 38 that was selected.
Award winning contemporary botanical artist Heeyoung Kim was this year’s juror. She selected my photograph: August’s Love Letter. The show is on display from March 28 - August 2, 2026.
The 2026 theme was inspired by Peterson’s A Field Guide to Wildflowers. All works celebrated the significance of wildflowers and their profound, versatile impact.
Description of my photograph:
August’s Love Letter
A bee flying through a cluster of cutleaf coneflowers was photographed with rare timing. The visiting bee lines up perfectly with the stem’s small leaf, coincidentally the same size and shape of the bee’s wing. Thus creating the illusion of a second wing. Their late-season nectar provides food when other sources are scarce. Their seeds are a gift to the birds in the winter.
