Murals of Chautauqua - Left Out in the Cold
As a Jamestown, NY native, artist and muralist, it should be without question that my three murals would be featured in the article titled ‘Murals in Jamestown and Chautauqua County NY: A Guide to Public Art.’
But alas, my three murals that wrap around Jamestown’s parking garage in the heart of the city were not featured in this article. Not in a sentence. Not in a photograph. The mural above mine is featured. You can’t take a photo of the Lucy ‘Vitameatavegamin’ mural without seeing mine directly below it. The two murals touch. Impossible to miss. Yikes, Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce. You good?
Nothing like living in a compromised small town that refuses to honor a grant funded, native, public artist who genuinely enjoys giving back to her community. The $5,000 grant I was awarded from ASI & NYSCA: Spring Street Parking Garage Beautification Project made my mural project possible.
